We collect what you give us, what your device tells us, and what our systems learn from your activity.
a. Information You Provide
- Name or nickname, email address, phone number
- Date of birth, gender, and preferences
- Profile photos, bio, and quiz answers
- Messages you send to other users
- Reports, feedback, and support requests
b. Vibe & Signal Data
- Screenshots you upload from your social media feeds (Instagram, Pinterest, etc.)
- Your quiz responses and the personality scores we compute from them
- Your AI-generated Vibe grid (the visual personality tiles other users see)
c. Location
- City, state, and country you provide at signup
- Approximate device location (only if you grant permission)
We do not continuously track your precise GPS location.
d. Device & Usage Data
- Device type, operating system, app version
- IP address, session duration, feature usage
- Crash reports and performance data
3. Why We Use Your Data
Everything we collect serves one of five purposes.
- To run the app: Create your account, build your Vibe profile, show you matches, enable messaging
- To keep you safe: Detect fraud, enforce our rules, moderate content, prevent abuse
- To improve Minimal: Understand how people use the app, fix bugs, build better features
- To communicate: Send service updates, respond to support requests
- To comply with law: Respond to legal requests and meet regulatory obligations
We do not sell your personal data. Ever.
4. AI & the Vibe Feature
We use AI to build your personality profile. Here's exactly how.
Minimal uses AI-powered systems for three things:
- Signal Analysis: Your uploaded screenshots are processed by AI to extract visual taste, cultural preferences, and personality signals
- Vibe Generation: Your quiz answers and signal data are combined to generate your Vibe grid — the personality tiles visible on your profile
- Matching: We use personality compatibility scores to suggest people you might connect with
These systems involve automated profiling. If you want to understand how a specific decision was made about your profile, contact us and we'll explain or arrange human review.
5. Who Sees Your Data
Other users see your profile. A few service providers help us run the app. That's about it.
Visible to Other Users
- Profile photos, name, age, gender
- Vibe grid tiles, personality labels, compatibility signals
- City or general location
Never visible: email, phone number, exact coordinates, uploaded screenshots, raw quiz responses.
Service Providers
- Cloud hosting and storage (Google Cloud, Firebase)
- AI processing for Signal Analysis and Vibe Generation
- Analytics and crash reporting
- Push notifications and transactional email
These providers work under contract and cannot use your data for their own purposes.
Legal & Safety
We may share data when required by law, to comply with a court order, or to protect the safety of our users.
We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers or data brokers.
6. How Long We Keep It
We keep your data while your account is active, and clean up promptly after you leave.
- Active account: Data retained while you use Minimal
- Screenshots: Raw files deleted immediately after AI processing. Only derived personality data stays
- Messages: Deleted immediately when either account is deleted
- Technical logs: Up to 12 months for security and debugging
- After you delete your account: Your profile, Vibe data, messages, and personal data are deleted immediately. Some anonymised data may remain in aggregated analytics
Some data may be retained longer if required by law (e.g., fraud investigation records).
7. Your Rights
You can access, correct, delete, or export your data at any time.
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: Fix anything that's inaccurate or incomplete
- Deletion: Delete your account and data through the app or by contacting us
- Portability: Get your data in a machine-readable format
- Object: Ask us to stop certain types of processing
- Withdraw consent: Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it anytime

8. International Transfers
Your data may be processed outside your home country.

We use essential cookies. No ads, no third-party trackers.
Our website and app may use cookies for authentication, session management, and basic analytics. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Where required by law, we obtain consent before placing non-essential cookies.

We take security seriously and use industry-standard protections.

No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach that affects your data, we'll notify you and any relevant authorities promptly.

Minimal is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn a minor is using the app, we'll delete their account and data immediately.
12. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll notify you through the app before they take effect. The "Last Updated" date above will be revised.
